Merry Christmas! (FREEBIE!)

People get so upset that stores start to put out Christmas things/decorations before Thanksgiving.

True confession:  My mom would tell you that I used to be one of those people. *gasp*

Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE Thanksgiving.  It’s by far one of my favorite days of the year.   But with all the hate and negativity in our world today, an early and extended Christmas is NOT a bad thing!  In fact, if anything, the world could use more love and Jesus in it!  Now when they start putting Halloween stuff out in August…ugh!  And Valentine's things before Christmas is over...don't get me started!

Christmas is my absolute favorite time of year (summer is a close second!)!  I love the beauty of the humble beginnings of baby Jesus, togetherness (is that a word?) of friends and family, yummy food and of course Christmas lights!  Watching it all through my daughters' eyes makes it even more special.

Unfortunately, the world tends to get wrapped up in the chaos of the season and leads to stress and "grinches".  Perhaps we are forgetting the true reason for the season?  I see memes all over Facebook about teachers surviving until winter break and I get it.  I mean I understand the sentiment.  Kids can be ridiculous this time of year!  The kids are nutty and full of excitement, but I always found this one of the most exciting times of the year to teach.  Maybe I’m crazy (that’s probably it!) because I love those 3-4 weeks of school between Turkey Day and winter break.  It flies by and the excitement is contagious.  You get to do fun “craftivities” and read holiday books (Polar Express Day…hello!).  Harness that excitement, teachers!  Embrace the chaos and let go a little (just a little…I’m a control freak, too)!

How many of you are still in school next week?  Our teachers are!  Not me of course, I’m on maternity leave.  Our district has an early release day on the 22nd, but we work all week.  In our area, we only get a week (give or take) for winter break.
Hang in there teachers!  You can do it!  (Waterboy reference, anyone?!)  Here's a freebie from my store to help get you through!

Merry Christmas!  Happy Holidays!
